Ethiopia Bans Import of Fuel Powered Vehicles

Ethiopia, the second most populous country in Africa after Nigeria has supposedly implemented a ban on all fuel powered vehicles, as the Country aims to reduce the expenses that are budgeted towards gasoline and diesel imports. The Country also views this policy as a medium to curb the increasing levels of pollution caused by these vehicle types.

According to multiple reports, the Ministry of Transport is working towards developing EV charging stations to support this new plan. The report further mentions that existing vehicles will be tested to ensure they meet the safety emission standards as those who fail the test will be banned from circulation in the Country.
