Ford Recalls 1,889,110 Vehicles

Ford has issued a recall of 1,889,110 vehicles due to concerns that a clip holding the windshield trim in place may detach while driving, causing a trim piece to come off. According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a clip on the affected vehicles can come loose and cause the A-Pillar Exterior Trim to detach, increasing the risk of a crash.

Owners of 2011-2019 Explorer SUVs will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have the defective piece inspected and replaced free of charge. The report further mentions that Ford is not aware of any injuries or crashes, and the company expects only about 5% of the defective vehicles to require a replacement.
