Volvo Recalls 17,409 Vehicles

Volvo Cars is a multinational luxury vehicle manufacturer founded in 1927, with its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company has been a standalone organization since 1999, when its parent company, AB Volvo, sold its automobile manufacturing division to Ford Motor Company, and in 2010 Ford sold the company to Geely, a private multinational automotive company headquartered in Zhejiang, China.

According to a recent notice by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Volvo has recalled 17,409 of its 2024 XC40 models due to a defect with its Central Electronic Module (CEM) software that may cause the left rear turn signal to malfunction.

The report further mentions that this issue could increase the risk of a crash if a vehicle following the affected Volvo does not see the signal from behind. An over the air software update will be implemented free of charge to affected owners, and a notification letter is scheduled to be sent out in February 2024.
