BlackRock: $12.5 Billion GIP Acquisition Deal

BlackRock Inc is a multinational investment company that was founded in 1988, with its headquarters in New York, USA. The company boasts of being the largest asset management firm in the world, with $9.42 trillion USD in assets as of June 2023. With over 70 offices in 30 countries, the company specializes in asset management, risk management, mutual funds, and index funds management.

According to recent reports, BlackRock has entered into an acquisition deal to purchase Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), for more than $12.5 billion USD in cash and stock. Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is an infrastructure investment fund that was founded in 2006, with its headquarters in New York, USA. The company’s investments are primarily in the energy, transport, water and waste sectors.

This acquisition deal will make BlackRock the world’s second largest infrastructure management company.
