Google is starting the year by laying off some employees that were focused on some of the company’s promising products. The report, as confirmed by CNN, mentions that hundreds of employees across divisions like Google Assistant, Google Nest, Google Pixel and Fitbit, were affected.
Despite multiple affected employees announcing their impacted roles on platforms like LinkedIn, an official number has not been released yet. Speculations by multiple sources cite the shift towards artificial intelligence as a core reason for the restructure across the organization.
