In 2023, Thailand announced a visa waiver for citizens of China in a bid to boost the tourism market between the Asian nations. The report mentions that over 20,000 Chinese nationals entered Thailand within the first week of the waiver announcement.
According to the BBC, China has also waived the visa requirements for Thailand citizens, with the policy update set to take effect in March 2024. This new policy will see the Thailand passport gain some grounds, amongst other economic benefits that comes with opening up the country’s borders.
