IBM: $2.3 Billion Software AG Acquisition Deal

The International Business Machines Corporation, also called Big Blue, is an American multinational technology corporation founded in 1911 and headquartered in Armonk, New York. Present in 177 countries, IBM is the largest industrial research organization in the world, specializing in computer hardware, middleware, and software solutions.

According to reports, IBM will acquire two subsidiaries of Software AG for $2.3 billion USD. This acquisition deal is expected to be finalized during the second quarter of 2024. The 2 divisions, StreamSets and webMethods, are data and application integration platforms, also known as integration platform-as-a-service (IPAAS), valued at over $1 billion USD.

This deal will help IBM expand hybrid cloud integration, as well as AI data offerings, enabling customers fully develop programming interface strategies to deliver sustainable profitable growth of their applications and data.

Software AG is a German multinational software corporation that develops enterprise software for business process management, integration, and analytics. It was founded in 1969 and is headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany, with offices worldwide. In June 2023, it became a subsidiary of Silver Lake, an American global private equity firm, for $2.6 billion USD.
