Alaska Air: $1.9 Billion Hawaiian Airline Deal

Alaska Air Group is an airline holding company with its headquarters in Washington, USA. The group owns Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, a mainline carrier and a regional carrier. Previously known as McGee Airways, Alaska Airlines is the 5th largest airline in North America, covering over 100 destinations.

McGee Airways was an American airline that started out in 1932 with 3 seater airplanes. After series of mergers, the company became Alaska Airlines in 1944.

According to recent reports, Alaska Air Group has announced plans to acquire Hawaiian Airlines for approximately $1.9 billion USD. Hawaiian Airlines is the largest commercial flights operator from and to the Island state of Hawaii. It is the 10th largest commercial airline in the country, with its headquarters in Honolulu, Hawaii.
