Dominican Republic: Floods kill 21

The Dominican Republic is a country located on the island of Hispaniola in the Greater Antilles archipelago of the Caribbean region. The Country is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and is the second-largest nation in the Antilles by area after Cuba, covering 18,792 square miles. It has a population of 10.7 million residents as of 2023.

According to recent reports, over 2,500 people have been rescued from raging floods across the city. More than 2,600 homes were affected by the storm, which led to at least 21 fatalities and multiple infrastructural damages. About 13,000 people have been evacuated to secure areas.

The report further mentions that 45 communities were without communication as of Sunday afternoon, and 32 provinces remain under red and yellow weather alerts.
