Nepal: Earthquake kills 157+

The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, commonly referred to as Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia. It shares borders with the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north and India to the south, east, and west. With a population of 30.6 million residents as of 2022, Nepal boasts of having eight of the world’s ten tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth.

According to CNN’s report, a magnitude 5.6 earthquake that struck the Jajarkot district in northwestern Nepal has resulted in over 157 fatalities, with approximately 170 others injured. Reports suggest that the death toll and number of injured could increase as search and rescue operations are ongoing.
