Anthropic is an artificial intelligence company that specializes in the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI) systems and neural networks, including large language models (LLM).
According to recent reports, Google, which is already an investor in Anthropic, will invest an additional $2 billion USD in the company. This new investment deal will enhance the company’s efforts to compete with Microsoft, a partner of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, as major tech companies race to integrate AI into their applications.
Previously, Google and Anthropic had a $300 million deal in which Google acquired a 10% stake in the company. This initial investment helped Anthropic financially as it allowed them purchase significant computing resources from Google’s cloud computing division.
In September 2023, Incognito Blog reported that Amazon had invested $4 billion USD in Anthropic AI.
