Acapulco de Juárez, commonly referred to as Acapulco, is a city located in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. The city comprises of seaports and loading areas for ships and cruise lines that travel between the Republic of Panama and California, USA. Acapulco is supposedly Mexico’s largest beach resort city although the unrest in the region continues to hinder foreign tourism.
According to CNN, a category 5 storm named Hurricane Otis hit the coast of Acapulco, killing about 27 people. The report further mentions that over 500,000 homes and businesses lost power when the storm hit, with 4 people missing. The Mexican National Guard reportedly continues to aid evacuation and restoration efforts.
