Epic Games to Layoff 16%

Epic Games Inc, formerly referred to as Potomac Computer Systems, is a software and video game development company founded in 1991, with its headquarters in North Carolina, USA. The company develops software frameworks like game engine, that are primarily designed for the production of video games including the popular ‘Fortnite’, that was released in 2017 and boasts of generating about $9 billion USD in revenue as of 2019.

According to recent reports, Epic has announced the layoffs of around 16% or 830 of its employees in a bid to reduce recurring burn. The report further mentioned that about two-third of the affected teammates were outside of core development positions and the job cuts were necessary to sustain the company’s cost structure.
