The Republic of Indonesia, commonly referred to as Indonesia, is a country located in the Southeast Asia region, between the Pacific and Indian oceans. Indonesia is the largest archipelagic state in the world, with over 17,000 islands and more than 270 million residents.

According to recent reports, the island country has announced the ban of e-commerce transactions on social media applications. The report further cites data protection concerns as part of the reasons for the prohibition, as it aims to protect offline retailers and marketplaces from the predatory pricing of online merchants.
This report comes few weeks after TikTok announced its new e-commerce feature, TikTok Shop.
