Celebrating Nigeria at 63

The Federal Republic of Nigeria, commonly referred to as Nigeria, is a country located in West Africa with a population of over 230 million residents as of 2023. Southern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria, both former British protectorates were combined in the early 1900’s to form Colonial Nigeria, a region that was ruled by the British until 1960.

In the late 1950’s, the decolonization of Africa slowly began with various nations calling for independence from their colonizers. Finally, October 1 1960, Nigeria gained independence from British rule.

This year, 2023, Nigeria celebrates her 63rd birthday and with a newly elected president, the country is miles away from global development but every year we hope for a better and more prosperous nation. Incognito Blog wishes every Nigerian across the globe a happy Independence Day celebration.
