Taiwan, also referred to as the Republic of China (ROC), is a country located in East Asia, bordered by the East and South China Seas, the People’s Republic of China, Japan, and the Philippines. The country is among the most scarcely populated in the world, with a population of about 23 million residents.
This is not to be confused with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), one of the most populous countries in the world.
According to recent reports, Typhoon Haikui hit the region and over the last few days there has been multiple infrastructural damages, and injuries. The report further mentions that over 160,000 homes lost power, with over 7,000 people evacuated from the affected areas.
