Instagram’s Threads was launched in July 2023 as a direct X competitor. The platform experienced rapid growth upon release and saw sign ups reach a 100 million mark in less than one week, signaling a positive adoption for the text-based application. Multiple consumer reports have mentioned a dwindling retention rate but no official statement from Meta.
Threads is reportedly rolling out the web version of the application, allowing users access the platform using a browser, as opposed to compulsorily having to download the mobile app. The report says this is one of the most requested features by customers. Incognito Blog was not able to access Threads using a browser yet, which could be signs of a gradual roll out.
