Gree is a Chinese home appliance manufacturer that makes air conditioners, fans, water dispensers, rice cookers, air purifiers, water kettles, humidifiers, induction cookers, etc. It is also the world’s largest residential air-conditioner manufacturer.
The company was restructured to general appliances in 1994 with its headquarters in Guangdong, China.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of 1.56 million Gree humidifiers, with multiple cited incidents. 23 fires have been reported, including property damage of over $100,000. The recalled humidifiers were manufactured between January 2011 and February 2014, affecting humidifiers sold under the Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole, and Seabreeze brands, as reported by CNN.
