The British Council is a British cultural institution with headquarters in London, dedicated to fostering international opportunities. With a presence in more than 100 countries, its mission encompasses expanding awareness of the United Kingdom and promoting the English language.

A noteworthy mention in its offerings is the British Council’s partnership in administering the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test. In a partnership with the University of Cambridge ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) Examinations and IDP Education Australia, this test has become a global benchmark, propelling countless individuals on their English journeys and opening doors to educational and professional opportunities.

According to recent reports, the fee required to sit for the IELTS test has been increased by over 30%. At the moment, the current cost of the registration is within 80,000 – 85,000 Naira and the institution has announced a new fee of 107,500 Naira for IELTS academic and general tests. This new rate is going to take effect in September 2023.
