Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for more than 870,000 of its F-150 trucks due to a potentially dangerous issue with the electronic parking brake. According to reports, the brake could unexpectedly engage at any time, even while the vehicle is in motion, posing a risk of loss of control and potential crashes.
The affected models are from 2021 to 2023 and are limited to those equipped with single-pipe exhaust systems. The report further mentions that Ford has cited 299 instances of the parking brake activating unintentionally, and 19 of these while the vehicle was in motion.
Those affected are expected to take their trucks to an authorized dealership where a fix would be applied at no cost to the vehicle owner. Owners of these trucks can expect to receive recall notices in the mail around September 11. Ford previously issued recall notices of its Bronco and Lincoln vehicles.
