TSMC: $2.9 Billion Chip Manufacturing Plant

They have announced plans to invest $2.9 billion in a new factory dedicated to the production of AI chips. The factory will be located in Taichung, Taiwan, and is expected to be operational in 2024.

The chipmaker plans to double their capacity for advanced packaging in 2024, as the company’s CEO, C.C. Wei, mentioned that the move is necessary to meet “strong demand” for AI chips by its customers, which include NVIDIA.
