Tesla Welcomes Rivian to EV Superchargers

Rivian Automotive Inc is an American electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer and technology company, that has been revolutionizing the industry since its inception in 2009. The company has a highly anticipated electric (SUV) and pickup truck, both of which are built on a unique self-contained automotive chassis platform.

With the growing demand for sustainable last-mile delivery solutions, Rivian partnered with global e-commerce giant Amazon to develop the Rivian Electric Delivery Van (EDV). The Rivian EDV was built particularly for Amazon, to drive efficient and sustainable package distribution. Amazon’s initial investment in the company was $700 million.

As we reported recently, Ford and General Motors announced a collaboration with Tesla’s supercharger technology. Now, Rivian, another major player in the electric vehicle industry, has announced its decision to embrace the North American Charging Standard, as described by CNN.

The report says the company has revealed plans to incorporate the North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports in its R1T pickup and R1S SUV models starting in 2025, with its upcoming models to also feature Tesla-style charging ports, opening up an extensive charging infrastructure to Rivian owners.

By spring of 2024, Rivian owners will be granted access to the supercharger network through the use of modified charging adapters.
