Spotify revealed plans for a strategic realignment within its podcasting division. This move comes as part of the company’s efforts to grow its partnership initiatives with leading podcasters worldwide and provide personalized support throughout the division.
To implement this shift, Spotify is reducing the global podcast department and others, resulting in approximately 200 employees being impacted by layoffs.

The company recognizes the challenges and complexities of this decision but deems it necessary to align resources and adapt to the evolving product landscape.
According to Sahar Elhabashi, the VP and Head of Podcast Business, the company’s foray into the podcasting industry has been marked by remarkable growth since starting in early 2019. In a testament to its impact, more than half a billion people have tuned into a podcast on Spotify since the company’s venture into the medium.
