According to reports, the protest tagged #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria started on August 1 and is expected to continue for 10 days in states like Lagos, Abuja, and Kano, to address the reversal of the fuel price hike, restoration of affordable electric tariffs, the rising cost of living, food inflation, and insecurity.

The report further mentions that the protest has taken various forms, from peaceful rallies in Lagos to reports of police firing tear gas at protesters in Abuja and violence and looting in some northern states, which led to the arrest of 300 protesters and a curfew placed in four northern states. There have also been reports of at least nine fatalities since the protests began.
