South Africa: TotalEnergies Exits From Offshore Blocks

South Africa is a country in the southern region of Africa known for its diverse culture, with a population of over 60 million residents as of 2022.

TotalEnergies SE, the French multinational integrated energy and petroleum company, has announced plans to withdraw from two offshore gas fields in South Africa as they could not be economically developed for the South African market.

The report mentions that TotalEnergies holds a 45% interest in Block 11B/12B located in Brulpadda and Luiperd. As part of the agreement, TotalEnergies will give up their stake for free along with its partner CNRI following their exit, as it plans to focus on other exploration activities in the region.

Earlier this month, Incognito Blog reported that TotalEnergies plans to sell its onshore oil assets in Nigeria to Chappal Energies for $860 million USD.
