Paraguay, officially the Republic of Paraguay, is a small landlocked country in South America with over 6 million residents as of 2024. It is bordered by Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina.
According to reports, the anti-drug agency in Paraguay seized over 4 tons of cocaine valued at around $240 million USD inside a shipment of sugar in Asuncion’s seaport, Paraguay’s capital.
The report further mentions that one person has been arrested following the discovery, and an investigation is ongoing with more containers being inspected. The cocaine bust named “Operation Sweetness” is the largest in the country’s history.
