Ford has issued a recall of 552,288 vehicles in the United States due to issues with the transmission.
According to reports, the transmission can unexpectedly downshift to first gear and can cause drivers to lose control and increase the risk of a crash. There have been multiple reports by customers regarding the unexpected transmission downshifting.
Affected vehicles include 2014 F-150 pickup trucks. Owners have been advised take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealership to update the powertrain control software free of charge, with notification letters scheduled to be sent in July.
