Tesla Recalls 5,836 Vehicles in China

Tesla has issued a recall of 5,836 imported vehicles in China due to issues with the software.

According to China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), the vehicles fail to deliver an audible or visual warning from the seat belt reminder device when the driver is not wearing a seatbelt. Affected vehicles include Tesla Model 3, Model S, and Model X vehicles produced between 2019 and 2024.

Tesla announced it will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update to fix the issue. Tesla will also contact users to check the driver’s seat belt reminder function and repair any faulty vehicles free of charge if the issue is unresolved after the software update.

Updates are scheduled to be sent in July 2024.
