Ford has issued a recall of 456,565 vehicles due to a battery detection issue that can result in a loss of drive power. According to the notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the body control module (BCM) and powertrain control modules (PCM) for these cars may fail to detect changes in battery charge. When undetected, a low battery charge can cause an unexpected loss of motive power and increase the risk of a crash.
Affected vehicles include 402,978 units of 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and 53,587 units of 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles. Owners have been advised to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have the BCM and PCM calibrations updated free of charge, with notification letters scheduled to be sent in May 2024.
In April 12, Incognito Blog reported Ford’s recall of 42,652 vehicles due to concerns that their fuel injectors could crack and cause a fuel leak in the engine compartment.
