The CHIPS and Science Act has announced an investment of $6.4 billion USD to Samsung, the South Korean multinational electronics corporation, to expand its semiconductor chip plants in central Texas.
According to reports, the investment will support two chip production facilities, a research and development center, and a packaging facility as part of a broader effort to boost chip production for the aerospace, defense, and auto industries and bolster national security.
The report further mentions that Samsung is expected to invest approximately $45 billion USD in constructing and expanding its Texas facilities through the end of the decade.
