$1 Billion Donation to College of Medicine

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, nicknamed Einstein, is a nonprofit medical school that was founded in 1953 with its headquarters in New York City, USA. Named after famous physicist Albert Einstein, the college ranks among the top medical schools in the United States, and its parent institution is the Montefiore Health System.

According to recent reports, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine will receive a donation of $1 billion USD from 93 year old Dr Ruth Gottesman, a former professor and board member of the institution. The report further mentions that Dr Ruth made the donation in memory of her late husband, David Gottesman, who passed away in 2022.

This donation has been met with positive reactions from the medicine community as the institution now looks to offer tuition free education to admitted students. According to CNN, when the semester resumes in August 2024, students would not pay any tuition, and fourth year students will be refunded their 2024 spring semester tuition.
