Samsung and Hyundai recently announced a new partnership that aims to equip Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles with the SmartThings technology that Samsung offers in smart homes. The technology will offer car-to-home and home-to-car connected services which include remote control in both directions for a variety of smart management systems.
According to Samsung, customers will be able to use the SmartThings mobile application to control their smart air conditioners, open and close their smart windows, and confirm the charging status of their electric vehicle. And from their vehicles, they would have the power to control their TVs, electric vehicle chargers, etc.
According to Hyundai, both Hyundai and Kia vehicles will deploy service providing infotainment systems to their new electric vehicles and these smart features will be implemented using over the air (OTA) and USB updates even for their existing vehicles.
