East Africa faces Devastating Floods

Intense rainfall has struck parts of East Africa, causing flash floods in Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. According to the report, this unusual rainfall is caused by the El Niño weather phenomenon. El Niño, which starts around October and runs through December, is described as a climate pattern that originates in the Pacific Ocean near the equator and affects global weather conditions.

This has led to persistent rainfall and flood, resulting in landslides, elevated waterborne diseases, food shortages, and severe damages to homes and infrastructure. Over 1 million people have been displaced, with more than 350 fatalities recorded so far. Emergency response teams have also been dispatched to affected areas.
