According to the Associated Press, the European Union’s antitrust division has fined the multinational corporation a sum of $400 million USD in a long-running legal standoff that alleges that Intel abused its global dominance by deploying illegal sales practices to block out other chip manufacturers like Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
AMD is a multinational semiconductor company also headquartered in California, USA, a direct Intel competitor.
