Lagos is the most populous city in Africa with over 24 million residents. According to recent reports from the Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources, residents of the affected areas are being advised to prepare to relocate ‘upland’, before the floods hit the area.
The report mentions the rise of the water levels at the Oyan Dam, which is likely the primary cause of the overflowing Ogun River. The affected areas include Alagbole, Agboyi I, Agboyi II, Agiliti, Ajegunle, Baiyeku, Ibeshe, Isheri-Olowora, Itowolo, Kara, Lekki-Ajah, Meiran, Owode-Elede and Owode-Onirin.
